Software or Systems Engineer

CCRi seeks both experienced and entry level candidates.  Qualified entry level candidates will posess a Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related technical field.

Systems Engineer

Commonwealth Computer Research, Inc, is a small analytics and software engineering company located in Charlottesville, VA.  We provide custom software development and innovative information engineering solutions to customers in government and private industry.  Our customers look to us to solve their hardest problems and we have a long history of exceeding their expectations.  With projects ranging from optimizing the worlds largest container port to predicting future asymmetric warfare events, CCRi has no shortage of exciting challenges.  We apply numerous machine learning techniques to textual, spatial, and numeric data sets to answer key questions posed by our clients.  We then implement these solutions, leveraging cloud computing technology, into software systems with a strong focus on usability and data visualization

Minimum requirements:  
  • US citizen
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related technical field; solid technical foundation and willingness to undergo training in specific areas, as needed.
Preferred experience - optional, but helpful, knowledge areas:
  • Statistical computing and analytical modeling (R, Matlab, Data Mining, Analytical Modeling, Machine Learning)
  • Databases (PostgreSQL, MySql, Oracle)
  • GIS (ArcGIS, Geoserver, PostGIS, OpenLayers, Quantum GIS)
  • Big data, social media, or text analysis
  • Linux or Unix operating systems
